چکیده

This paper describes an implementation of the class based queueing (CBQ) mechanisms proposed by Sally Floyd and Van Jacobson 1] 2] to provide real time policies for packet forwarding. CBQ allows the traac ows sharing a data link to be guaranteed a share of the bandwidth when the link is congested, yet allows exible sharing of the unused bandwidth when the link is unloaded. In addition, CBQ provides mechanisms which give ows requiring low delay priority over other ows. In this way, links can be shared by multiple ows yet still meet the policy and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of the ows. We present a brief description of the implementation and some preliminary performance measurements. The problems of packet classiication are addressed in a exible and extensible, yet eecient manner, and whilst the Streams implementation cannot cope with very high speed interfaces, it can cope with the serial link speeds that are likely to be loaded.

XMILE: An XML based Approach for Programmable Networks

In this paper we describe an XML-based platform for dynamic active node policy updates. XML supports the definition of specific policy languages, their extension to satisfy new needs and the management of deployed policies on different active nodes. We show an example of the management of router packet forwarding policies where the XML policies that drive the packet routing are updated at run-t...

Priority Based Energy-Efficient Data Forwarding Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) can be described as a collection of untethered sensor nodes. An important application of WSNs is in the field of real-time communication. Real-time communication is a critical service which requires a qualitative routing protocol for energy-efficient network communication. The judicious use of energy of the network nodes is essential and important for sustainabil...

IP Forwarding Alternatives in Cell Switched Optical Networks

Optical switching will enable core Internet packet switching to scale with future transmission rate increases. Currently proposed optical ATM switches do not allow packet reassembly, which is necessary for packet level forwarding. This results in the requirement to create end to end ATM virtual connections for flows even if they contain only one packet. In electronically switched networks MPOA ...
